Fun Night Thursday March 10th at 6:30PM - The Show of Shows with Cid Caesar

Cid Caesar and Imogene Coca

Those who might think that a black and white video of a 60 year old TV show cannot produce hysterical laughs are in for a pleasant surprise. I consider Sid Caesar the all time master of television comedy, surpassed only by Chaplin in comedic genius.

Hold on to your chair or recliner tightly to keep from falling to the floor. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!

Fun Night Thursday February 11th at 6:30PM - The Ed Sullivan Show

The Best of the Ed Sullivan Show

"The Ed Sullivan Show” had a 23-year-long run on CBS, was a fixture on Sunday evenings, and featured a wide variety of acts that would appeal to all members of the family. Ed’s guests could range from the stars of current Broadway shows, ballet dancers, singers performing their hit singles, acrobats, comedians, animal acts, and even the puppet Topo Gigio. Sullivan, a newspaperman who had gained experience putting vaudeville-type shows together, was the weekly host. Stiff, often looking awkward, he nonetheless knew how to get the hottest acts in show business. Famously, The Beatles made their first appearance on American television on this show.

“The Best of the Ed Sullivan Show” is a 6-disc collection of appearances by some of show business’ biggest names, including Barbra Streisand, Marlon Brando, Carol Burnett, Milton Berle, Jackie Gleason, The Smothers Brothers, Flip Wilson, Lucille Ball, Janis Joplin, Phyllis Diller, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Rich Little, Johnny Mathis, Smokey Robinson, and Bob Hope. Perennial Sullivan guest star Senor Wences is also included.

Comedy Night at BWSC Thursday October 8th 2015 at 6:30PM - Waiting for God - Wk 6 and 7

STORYLINE

When Tom Ballard moves to Bayview Retirement Vilage, he meets Diana Trent, a feisty old woman who complains about everything and wants nothing more than just to die. Much to the dislike of Harvey Baines, the head of the home, the two form a friendship and eventually a romance, helping each other out of tight situations. Tom's son, Geofrey, and daughter-in-law, Marion (whom Tom doesn't particularly like) are constantly stopping in and Jane, a worker at the home, is Diana's worst nightmare being constantly cheerful. Together, though, Tom and Diana make it together while they are waiting for God.Written by Christopher Rothbauer

Shows from week 6 and 7 of a half hour each from Season 1 will be shown:

This is a show that would never be made in the US because it is about the elderly with a cast mostly over the age of 50. But that is what makes it so great.

Stephanie Cole is Diana Trent who is a retired photojournalist who spent all her time working and never raised a family. She has lived her life at full throtle and has not slowed down for retirement. She believes that being old is not fatal. (Note: Stephanie was only 49 when the series premiered!)

Graham Crowden is Tom Ballard. He raised an extremely boring son who is married to an alcoholic nymphomanic. Tom goes on mental walkabouts with famous dead people. Tom is actually very together, he just doesn't like to admit it.

They are neighbors at Bayview Retirement Community which is run by the superego Harvey Baines (Better known as the Idiot Baines.)and the overly kind Jane. Harvey always has a plan to make more money or a plan to get rid of a pesky resident but you know that Diana and Tom will foil his plans.
